This unparalleled feat is brought to life through the power of song, blending traditional Torres Strait music with contemporary melodies. The musical tells the story of these men and women who ventured far from their homes in search of employment, finding camaraderie amidst their labour. Their journey laid the groundwork for Australia’s development as an industrial nation. This production honours their legacy through a harmonious fusion of ancestral languages (Meriam Mir, Kala Lagaw Ya, and Torres Strait Creole) and English, supported by a contemporary band. Upon publication, Pride and Prejudice was well received by critics and readers. The first edition sold out within the first year, and it has never gone out of print.
