JUNIOR AUDITION NOTICE: 'The Wizard of Oz' by Stage School Australia

Synopsis: Join Stage School Australia for their Brisbane production of the beloved musical, "The Wizard of Oz." Follow Dorothy and her friends as they journey through the magical land of Oz to find their hearts' desires while learning valuable lessons along the way.


Audition Date: Submission Deadline: Friday, 5 July 2024


Audition Requirements: 

  • Prepare a 16-bar Musical Theatre song from the provided selections using a General American accent.

  • Record in a mid-shot (waist up), well-lit and framed, with clear visibility and audibility.

  • Upload as ‘Unlisted’ on YouTube or Vimeo, including full name in the description.

  • See audition pack for detailed instructions.


Available Roles: Various roles for performers aged 10-19 including Dorothy, Scarecrow, Tin Man, Lion, Glinda, Wicked Witch, Wizard, and ensemble roles.


Audition Registration: Submit audition video via email to casting@stageschool.com.au. Include name, date of birth, current Stage School Australia group (if applicable), performing experience summary, and link to audition video.

  • Thu 26 Sep 2:00pm and 7:00pm

  • Sat 28 Sep 2:00pm and 7:00pm

Performance Location: Draney Theatre, Marist College, 112 Glenlyon Dr, Ashgrove


Rehearsal Dates:

  • 9th August 2024: 6:00pm - 9:00pm (South Bank, Principal cast only)

  • 16th - 20th September 2024: 9:00am - 5:00pm (South Bank, Full Company)

  • 23rd September 2024: 9:00am - 5:00pm (South Bank, Full Company)

  • 24th September 2024: 9:00am - 7:00pm (Ashgrove, Full Company)


Rehearsal Locations:

  • South Bank: Brisbane State High School, Gate M5 on Ernest Street

  • Ashgrove: Marist College, 112 Glenlyon Dr, Ashgrove



Other information: 

  • Participation fee of $120 includes tuition, production costs, costume, set, props, and venue hire.

  • Additional $30 for souvenir cast T-shirt.

  • Each performer must sell a minimum of 20 tickets.

  • Ticket prices: $30 (Weekday Matinees), $35 (Evenings & Saturday Matinee).
