Synopsis: In Harold Pinter's iconic The Birthday Party, Meg and Petey Boles run a small, run-down seaside boarding house in a sleepy town. They have just one lodger, the reclusive and bitter Stanley, who keeps to himself, hiding from the world. The peace is disrupted when two mysterious visitors, the charming Goldberg and the ominous McCann, arrive. Stanley becomes suspicious that the men have a sinister purpose, but Meg is too caught up in the excitement of her new guests to notice. Goldberg insists on throwing a party for Stanley, despite his protests that it isn’t his birthday. What begins as a seemingly harmless celebration quickly spirals into chaos, as tensions rise and Stanley’s past threatens to destroy him. Pinter’s dark and intense comedy builds on a sense of menace, offering a haunting exploration of power, paranoia, and identity.
