Synopsis: After five-star seasons at The Edinburgh Fringe Festival and in London, as well as a sold-out run at QPAC in 2023, Breaking the Castle returns to Brisbane in 2025. Described as “the most significant theatre production audiences may ever experience,” this powerful play follows David, a struggling actor navigating a chaotic world of substance abuse, Shakespearean soliloquies, failed auditions, and deteriorating mental health. Pushed to the brink, David embarks on an unexpected journey that leads him to a lifeline in the mountains of South-East Asia.

Written and performed by Peter Cook, Breaking the Castle is an extraordinary and often hilarious true story that captures the resilience of the human spirit with raw honesty and empathy.
