- Workshops and MasterclassesTitle: Brisbane Musical Theatre Workshop Presented By: Griffith University Queensland Academy of Excellence in Musical Theatre Genre: Musical Theatre Workshop About: Join us for three days of musical theatre fun and learning! The Brisbane Musical Theatre Workshop, held at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre, offers participants the opportunity to improve their technical skills in acting, singing, and dancing while gaining valuable insight into the audition process for the QAEMT Bachelor of Musical Theatre program. Participants will be workshopped on a musical theatre audition song and receive expert training across various aspects of musical theatre. The workshop culminates in a showing for family and friends, followed by a Q&A session with staff to discuss training pathways and industry expectations. WORKSHOP DETAILS: • Dates: Friday 11 to Sunday 13 October 2024 • Workshop Times: • Friday 11 October: 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm • Saturday 12 October: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm • Sunday 13 October: 8:30 am – 1:00 pm (Final showing and Q&A at 11:00 am) • Location and Address: Queensland Performing Arts Centre, Corner Grey and Melbourne Streets, South Brisbane, QLD 4101 • Ages: • Junior Workshop: Grades 8 – 10 • Senior Workshop: Grades 11 – 12, and recent graduates (maximum age of 19 as of 1 January 2024) • Cost: $295 per participant • What to Wear: Comfortable clothes suitable for movement (activewear recommended). Bring jazz shoes if you have them, along with a spare shirt for after dance sessions. • What to Bring: Water, snacks, lunch (for the long day), and a towel. Participants must also bring two printed copies of sheet music (marked up for the accompanist and singing teacher) for two x 2-minute cuts of musical theatre songs. It is recommended that sheet music be presented in a display folder or taped together for ease of use. • Performance: Sunday 13 October, 11:00 am. Friends and family are invited to watch a short performance and participate in a Q&A session with the workshop staff.
